About J. E. Richard
"J." Richard has consulted hundreds of Client organizations since 1974. Prior to establishing his own firm in 1984, "J." was associated with several prominent compensation and benefit consulting firms as a senior executive compensation consultant and regional practice leader. Prior to his compensation consulting career, he also held the top human resource executive and senior compensation staff positions with various publicly held and private corporations between 1966 and 1974.
As a senior faculty member of the National Association of Corporate Directors ("NACD"), he developed and conducted Board/Committee development courses and workshops for Boards and Audit, Compensation, Nominating/Governance, and Strategic Review committees. He also served on NACD Blue Ribbon Commissions that published "best practice" reports on executive compensation and non-employee director pay. Additionally, he developed an "eLearning" course for the Association of Executive Search Consultants ("AESC") on executive compensation concepts and practices.
His published books include CEO Contract Considerations, the Compensation Committee Guide, Board of Director Development and Compensation, and Executive Compensation in Private Companies. He also authored an NACD Monograph: The Board's Strategic Review Responsibility. In addition, "J." has written numerous articles for Director's Monthly, Directors & Boards, and other prominent business periodicals.
"J." is a lifetime member of WorldatWork (formerly the American Compensation Association), a founding member of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals ("NASPP"), and served on the Board of Review for the Certified Equity Professionals Institute ("CEPI"). He also holds memberships with the National Center for Employee Ownership ("NCEO"), the Forensic Expert Witness Association ("FEWA"), and the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute ("ACFEI").
He has also served on various private company Boards as a Compensation Committee Chair and Member.
